The Urban Oasis beauty salon and cosmetology school was established by Ted Jones and Jennelle Blackman-Jones in 2014.

This duo were able to combine their strengths, determination and commitment to have developed the business to what it is today.

The couple, along with their great team, have buckled down and kept on working unendingly on enhancing and keeping up with the latest treatments, products and technology and are excited to present you with the new Urban Oasis beauty salon and cosmetology school, located at 234 South Road Georgetown, between camp and Alexander streets.

As the name “Urban Oasis” suggests, we were established with the aim of providing our customers with an experience that mirrors the peace and tranquility of a true oasis.

Apart from our superior ambiance, we aim to provide the best quality of service by professionals who are experienced and competent in their field.
As one of our clients put it “I love the service, atmosphere and standards of this fine establishment. I will become a regular customer here. The establishment screams quality over quantity“.

The new Urban Oasis now enables us to give customers a full range of spa and beauty treatments from nail care services to full body treatments that are second to none in Guyana.

Meet Jennelle Blackman

Founder of URBAN OASIS

I’m your hostess and captain of the Urban Oasis team. This business is so important to me and for the past 7 years I’ve built it on the premise of love, loyalty and serenity. My team and I (PS I absolutely love them with all my heart) strive to provide you the best experience each time you visit. If we ever miss the mark, please remember we’re only human and our intention was truly for you to leave with a smile and desire to visit again!

We’ve been through a wonderful transformation this year and added so many top end spa treatments to our menu, we can’t wait to spoil you!

I have a loving husband, my rock, Ted, whom I adore and I’m mom to a German Shepherd fur baby, Jacks. I’m a complete and utter animal lover by the way - especially dogs!

Green Tea gets my morning started - not because I prefer it to coffee, but because I think it’s healthier for me. I’m a perfectionist and strive to instill a bit of this into my team.

Besides for the salon, I also teach! Six years ago I added a school for nail techs to my business (as if it’s not challenging enough running one business - lol). I just love knowledge - acquiring it AND sharing it! It’s so amazing empowering my students and watching them grow.

Ultimately I try my best to strive for happiness, giving and receiving it and to be there for everyone who comes into my circle!

Nicolet Peters

Nicolet Peters is one of our jnr nail technician and has been functioning in the field of cosmetology for over 4 years. Nicolet jovial and bubbly personality creates a warm and inviting setting for clients. Her services include manicures, pedicures and polish application, just to name a few. Nicolet work experience can be considered short but her passion and love for the cosmetology industry is not. Nicolet’s love for her work fueled and she decided to change between jobs, she described her previous working environment as “stagnant”. Miss Peters joined the Urban Oasis family where she realised her potential. With multiple career choices her dreams and potential were met, from massage to nail extension services Nicolet’s growth is truly admirable. When asked “why do prefer pedicure services more?” Her response with much humor: “those customers are big tipers.” It comes as no surprise that Nicolet is loved by our clients. Her humor, drive and services provided are truly admirable.

Merissa

Merissas’ calm, cool and collected personality is refreshing and delightfully. Her clients all agree that her helpful and patient attitude, are what they admire. Furthermore she is one of our ten year employees who has always been described as pleasant and very helpful. Inaddition she uses her spare time to view new nail artistry on youtube to help her build and expand her versatility. Merissa started out from the bottom but applied the slow and steady principle and grew. Merissa is still growing as she is currently under taking our lash extension course to add to her impressive resume. With make artistry pedicure, manicure, gel application, nail artistry and soon enough lash extension Merissa is one of the names to watch out for in the future.

Hollister Hooper

Probably one of the most popular and talked about employees Hollister Hooper brings fine customer service. Hollister embodies customer care through tactical means, booking customers appointments, furnishing and filtering information and even providing a warm cup of coffee to those who desire.
Hollister came to be a few years back and has improved the quality of customer care. Acting in the capacity of Reception he has proven time without number he is your go to guy for anything. This polite and charismatic thirty year delights in the servitude of others and making our customers time at the salon like no other. We are pleased to Mr. Hooper as our tour guide.

Shahmeena

After moving from the island of Essequibo the then young Shahmeena decided to persue a career in cosmetology. Shahmeena’s rough around the edges exterior can be intimidating but she has proven time without number her place in the cosmetology world. This multi-talented character offers commendable experience in the areas of full body waxing, nail extensions, nail artistry, pedicure, manicure, eye tinting and more. Shameenas eye for detail and precision are the attributes that her clientele view as most important. She can be described as calm and hard-working person who is focused on making a respectable name for herself. Shahmeena is currently exploring her taste for fat reduction, another service that she will be offering through the Urban Oasis family.

Aelicia

Hi world 🌎, My name is Aelicia Wharton a junior nail and wax technician attached to the urban oasis cosmetology School and salon. My journey in the field of beauty started not so long ago and as my skills developed so did my passion and love for the industry. I specialize in the areas of pedicure, manicure and eyelash lifting and more. I am 5 ft 6inch but filled with much determination, skills and energy. My customers all agree that I am "the go to person" for a smoothing and relaxing pedicure.The road ahead is a long one and I have no intentions of stopping here as I intend to add other services to my list. So look out world cause this fire cracker is going to be making moves.

Cindy France

With her youthful tone and zess Ms. Cindy France can be considered the latest addition to the family. Ms. France was apart of our summer youth camp classes and exude much promise. This teenager thirst for knowledge is raging and there is no stopping. Cindy offer services for manicure, gel polish, manicure and pedicure. Cindys’ youth and lack of experience are truly refreshing as her determination and drive are the qualities that best describe her. Though her path to perfection maybe far Cindy is focused on developing her cosmetology skills in other areas. Displaying much promise in her spare tries Cindy tries to apply acrylic on the fingers and toes of anyone who would give her the opportunity. Urban Oasis is eagar to see where this talented young character ends up in the future.
